A “dishonest” teacher who bought fuel for his own car and #163;1,000 worth of mountaineering equipment using school accounts has been suspended for five months. Peter Bailey had the money deducted from his pay when colleagues at William Henry Smith School in West Yorkshire discovered what he had done. Mr Bailey claimed he was going to pay the school back, but a General Teaching Council for England panel found he was dishonest. “The evidence indicates that you made no attempt to disclose the fact that items were ordered for yourself, rather than the school, or to make payment for the items of equipment.”
