Almost half of secondary school physics teachers do not hold a degree in the subject, according to a survey. The Ipsos Mori poll of 317 teachers for the Science Museum and Shell showed that eight out of ten of them said there were too few opportunities to learn outside the classroom. Just over half (51 per cent) said they wanted to do more hand-on experiments during lessons. Just over a third said the syllabus should be overhauled to improve pupil engagement.
