Scotland coach Walter Smith joined 250 schoolchildren at Hampden Park last month at a special anti-racism awards ceremony.

Hundreds of schools throughout the country entered an annual competition to create a piece of art - a drawing, a poem or a sculpture - to convey an anti-racism message (see last week’s TES Scotland). It was organised by the Educational Institute of Scotland in partnership with the charity Show Racism the Red Card, which aims to stamp out racism in football.

The individual prize winners were:special schools: Claire Gemmell (Glenburn School, Inverclyde)P1-P4: Amy Gallagher (St Peter’s Primary, South Lanarkshire)P5-P7: Bradley Reid and Oscar Davidson (Bruntsfield Primary, Edinburgh)S1-S3: Charley-Ann Brant (Bankhead Academy, Aberdeen).
