Former Hibernian striker Keith Wright has been appointed youth development officer for Midlothian by the Scottish Football Association. Mr Wright, who has managed Cowdenbeath, will work in the same department as Neil Orr, another former Hibs player. “I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

Meanwhile, Inverkeithing High goalkeeper Joe Houston was the hero as the school won the Bank of Scotland SSFA Schools Senior Shield for the first time. After the Hampden Park final finished 0-0 after extra-time, Houston saved two penalties in the shoot-out and then scored the winning kick as Inverkeithing High squeezed through 4-3 on penalties.
