(Photograph) - Former Indonesian teacher Muhammad Yahya says he makes more money selling Barbie dolls on Jakarta’s streets than teaching.

He became a street vendor because his students could not afford to pay the tuition fees. May schools have closed as a result of the country’s economic crisis. Muhammad says he makes 60,000 rupiah (pound;5) daily from the dolls, compared to a teacher’s monthly salary of 75,000 rupiah. Photograph by BEAWIHARTAREUTERS.
