Honorary Life Membership was awarded retiring HMI for ICT to Gabriel Goldstein at the annual conference of the organisation for advisers, inspectors and consultants for computers in education, NAACE, last month. Gabriel Goldstein, of course, had his own response to the tribute. Goldstein’s Four Laws:

* The Law of Irritating Success: successful outcomescan be achieved by the wrong methods * The Law of Innovation: if you stand still long enough you are bound to become an innovator * The Law of Conservation of Difficulty: if you solve one problem two more will come along in short order * The Law of the Bandwagon: the noise of a bandwagon is in inverse proportion to the certainty of its direction.
