An audio-described performance of “The Wizard of Oz” in Exeter and a Viking experience in Scotland are among the activities featured in Let’s Go!, the Royal National Institute for the Blind’s new quarterly guide for eight to 16-yar-olds. As well as listing events accessible to blind and partially sighted young people, it contains reviews of past trips and details of sports activities such as goalball and archery. Examples of the successful lives children are leading thanks to the Natural Aural Approach are included in a leaflet, Deaf Children Talking: Why and How from the Now We’re Talking: Deaf Children Can initiative. It also contains recent research results showing that deaf children achieved grades in their GCSEs equivalent to or better than the national average. The project is run by two charities, the Ewing Foundation and DELTA (Deaf Education through Listening and Talking).
