Free post-school education for all will be top of the SNP’s education wish-list if it grabs a share of power at next May’s Holyrood elections.

The party yesterday (Thursday) spelt out proposals for student support in FE and HE, pledging to tackle debt and offer young Scots a better future.

Its plans will resonate with graduates who completed the On Track survey (above). Most believe they have made a good investment in their education but are now more likely to worry about debt, particularly men from deprived areas. They are also put off further qualifications because of debt fears.

Learners who were dissatisfied with their course or who feel they are in the wrong job are more likely to worry about debt. One in three learners would like to take more courses but is put off.
