CHILDREN in Wales and Liverpool will swim for free during the summer holidays.
The Welsh Assembly is funding a pound;2.5 million pilot scheme to give all under 16-year-olds unlimited access to public pools.
Liverpool council has issued 200,000 free swim vouchers to 71 primary schools across the city. The scheme, equivalent to three vouchers per pupil, has already resulted in a doubling of children’s visits to local leisure centre pools.
And a lucky Liverpool school will no longer have to worry about funding swimming - the one which uses the most vouchers over the holidays will get a year of free swimming lessons for every class.
