Fiona Petrucke is head of key stage 4 at Baverstock school, Birmingham

Fiona is a key person when it comes to making things happen. She joined the school in the early Eighties and built up business studies into a fully fledged department offering GNVQs and RSA exams as well as GCSEs and A-level. ICT facilities have flourished under her and she’s a wizard at organising trips - at Christmas she organises a fleet of coaches to take the whole school - 1,350 pupils - to the cinema. “She’s a remendous person who seems to find time to do everything and more,” says headteacher Roger Perks.

Fellow teacher Sue Williams has been promoted to another school but nominated Fiona for being “a wonderful friend and colleague”.
