The funding of adult learning

An error appeared in an article on the funding of adult learning by Mark Corney, director of MC Consultancy last week (FE Focus, November 22).

Two paragraphs on student funding should have read: "Where rates of return are low in terms of earnings, as they are at level 2 (GCSE equivalent), there should be free tuition and grants rather than loans for living and study costs.

"Where they are significant, as at level 3 and 4 (A-level and first degree), fees should be deferred until students have achieved their qualifications, and loans rather than grants should be available for living and study costs."
