A “shadow” round for colleges and other providers seeking replacement cash for EU money to offer training opened for applications on Monday. Projects, which will be limited to promoting employability and social inclusion, will be worth pound;12 million. They are intended to bridge the gap caused by the delayed start to the 2007-13 EU structural funds programme. Concern has been expressed among training providers that they could lose out heavily as Scotland’s share of the EU funds is due to fall from pound;1.1 billion over 2000-06 to Pounds 490m between 2007-13.
