To a child protection and children’s charter conference at the Queen’s Hotel in Aberdeen, where a Scottish Executive roadshow has stopped off.

The multi-agency event is well attended by the great and good from many quarters, including some resplendent in their smart police uniforms.

Like others, they are advised to switch off mobile phones to avoid disturbing the conference peace.

Bad luck, then, that the Executive briefing is rudely interrupted by a personalised ring tone to the tune of a well-known song, belted out on the stands of Ibrox Stadium and the streets of Belfast.

A uniformed arm surrenders to the embarrassment and quietly turns off the unexpected call. Obviously the combination of the Queen’s Hotel, Her Majesty’s finest and defence of the Proddie realm proved irresistible.
