Gaelic - CBeebies in Gaelic

A new website for Gaelic teachers was launched this week at the Scottish Learning Festival in Glasgow.

The site, part of Gaelic development body Bord na Gaidhlig's attempts to recruit Gaelic teachers, will provide information on teacher training, learning Gaelic, funding opportunities and useful links. The launch came after Scotland's new Gaelic television channel went on air last Friday.

BBC Alba's children's programmes will provide content for pupils in P2-6, which will form an integral part of their Gaelic education. Long-running popular Gaelic programmes, including Eorpa and De a-nis, as well as a Gaelic version of CBeebies, will also be broadcast on the channel.

BBC Alba is available on Sky channel 168 and Freesat channel 110. It should become available on cable at a later date and, subject to review by the BBC Trust, will become available on Freeview after digital switchover in 2010.
