Gaelic authors and established writers are to work alongside pupils in their classroom as part of a new Highland writing initiative, Sgriobhadh sa Sgire.
Developed by Highland Council and Comhairle nan Leabhraichean (The Gaelic Books Council), and supported by Bord na Gaidhlig, the initiative also aims to boost sales of Gaelic books and raise their profile among readers of all ages. It will include Gaelic writing workshops and readings in libraries across the Highland Council area.
In June 2007, the Leabhar nan Gaidheal Oga project was launched, culminating in a book of writing produced by young people in Gaelic education across the Highlands. Sgriobhadh sa Sgire is the second phase and aims to build on the work already undertaken within Leabhar nan Gaidheal Oga.
