David Henderson reports on what lies ahead for the growing trend towards curriculum flexibility in secondaries

* At Garnock Academy in North Ayrshire, Charles Waddell, assistant head, said flexibility meant accelerating the S1-S2 curriculum, cutting the number of teachers in front of pupils and starting S2 options after Christmas. “Pupils were well aware of what they wanted to do and why,” Mr Waddell said.
