GTC wants more room for guidance.

Local authorities are demanding student teachers are checked for a criminal past before they are accepted for a school placement, Ivor Sutherland, the GTC’s registrar, reported. Mr Sutherland admitted there were dangers if students were not submitted to checks with the Scottish Criminal Records Office. It was up to teacher education institutions to clear their students.
