The genetic recipe that makes each man, woman and child unique will be celebrated at the International Centre for Life in Newcastle upon Tyne, which is being built close to the railway station.

rThe project features the Gene Dome, which explores the powerful influences of genes on life, and “Body and Mind”, a huge exhibition area encouraging healthy living. A Pounds 27 million National Lottery grant is going towards a genetics research institute and a bio science village, providing facilities for biotechnology businesses. It is being developed by Tyne and Wear Development Corporation in partnership with Newcastle University, the City Council and the National Health Service Executive. Details: 0191 226 1234.
