Talking of workload, what about the foundation stage profile?
More than 130 assessments of whimsical appearance (for example:
“understands that people have different needs, views, cultures and beliefs, that need to be treated with respect”. And we’re talking four and five-year olds), a 12-page booklet to fill in,by hand and on computer, and “evidence of teacher assessment for each entry”.
Did the committee that designed the camel make this up or was it the camel itself? After the baseline failure, we now have to be trained for this untested, unpiloted and unstandardised box-filling. What’s the point? Ticking boxes does not improve the quality and opportunity of teaching. Am I a lone voice?
