Teachers interested in environmental science are being given the chance to join expedition teams in the UK or Europe this summer and gain experiences they can bring back to their classrooms.

Winners of the 2007 Environmental Science awards may find themselves monitoring dolphins in Greece, surveying coastal wetlands in Estonia, or following the flight of the bumblebee in the Cotswolds.

The awards, run by the charity Earthwatch, aim to provide teachers with a deeper insight into wildlife conservation and to help them create lesson materials. All teachers who can demonstrate a commitment to the environment can apply. Projects take place in the school holidays and all expenses will be covered.
