There are spooky uprisings at castles and ruins around the country, as Scotland’s ghosts mount a protest movement against the proposed demolition of historic buildings and heritage sites. “Haunted Heritage” is a drama and music show organised by Historic Scotland’s education unit for P4-7s. This month and next, the free half-hour interactive drama performance and 90-minute workshop will take place in Ayrshire, Fife, Dumfries and Oban.

Set in a television studio, the lively performance focuses on news coverage of the proposed demolition of a local historic site and reports of strange incidents at other heritage sites throughout the country. Children will hear from the ghosts why the historic buildings and sites deserve to be preserved. The programme supports a number of curriculum areas, including environmental studies and citizenship.
