Girls key to battling global poverty

TV presenter Claudia Winkleman spoke at a House of Commons event this week to highlight the importance of girls' education in the fight against global poverty. She was marking the publication of a report by charity the Global Campaign for Education, which found that children of women who are able to read are 50 per cent more likely to survive beyond five years of age than those that can't.
