More worrying signs that the Girls’ Day School Trust is selling the pass.
Barely has one of its members (Howell’s near Cardiff) sprouted a co-educational sixth-form college than it starts acquiring co-educational prep schools. The latest into the fold is Great Houghton, a stately pile just outside Northampton, joining Hilden Grange in Tonbridge, Kent, which became a GDST member earlier this year. A spokesperson points out that this is in line with a recent change in the trust’s charitable objects, “to advance the education of young people (principally girls, but where the council thinks fit, boys)”.
