Parents are threatened by jail if they do not send their children to school, yet what incentive is there for them when they find out how people have been betrayed by the very services set up to protect them? Allowing Huntley to continue to be in a position of responsibility among children, instead of insisting, even without any prior conviction, that he should be in a monitored rehabilitation programme, is completely unacceptable.

One powerful thing parents can do to help find ways to learn about people and gain life-skills, is to meet and share their feelings of fear, setting up self-help groups in their communities.

It is my own belief that crimes would be greatly lessened if children were brought up from an early age to express their feelings in a constructive way.
