Sportscotland has set up an online discussion forum to encourage wider viewpoints on the way forward for sport in Scotland. School sport comes high on the list of priorities as the body looks at ways to make sport more accessible to all Scots.

It is four years since Sportscotland, then in the guise of the Scottish Sports Council, launched its Sport 21: Nothing Left to Chance national strategy, which looked at nurturing talent and achieving world-class status as well as wide participation in sports.

“We have already established a number of focus groups that will meet on two occasions, covering issues such as local government, health, education, social justice and the media,” said Alastair Dempster, chairman of Sportscotland. “However, in addition, we are keen to have input from the people of Scotland in developing and delivering the revised Sport 21.”

Any teachers or coaches wanting to put forward their views can go to www.sportscotland.org.uk and click on Sport 21 Review.
