Can I, as one of the authors of the research paper quoted, correct the information concerning the measurement of reading gains (“Headphones help pupils improve their reading”, TES, September 14).

The research paper quoted in the article has unfortunately given the wrong measurement scale. It should be in years, not months. The average gain in word recognition was 1.56 years for the experimental group and 0.37 years for the control group.
