The Government's campaign to persuade schools to opt for grant-maintained status has received a further setback, with parents at West Monmouth comprehensive, Pontypool, Gwent, voting against opting-out for the second time in four months. The latest ballot recorded an even greater majority in favour of remaining under local education authority control - 725 to 321, compared with 528 to 362 in July. The Welsh Secretary, John Redwood, ordered the re-run after claims of misleading information.
