Going back to the ‘bizarre’..

In last week’s Online Opinion section, readyfortheweekend found the example of industrial action that I gave in my interview (22 June) bizarre, on the grounds that “no unpromoted teacher is required to do playground duty in Scotland”. It is a clear exemplar from Scotland of NASUWT’s current work-to-contract, where our members are restricting many of the extra tasks they formerly performed voluntarily and, as the example given demonstrates, creating an impact even where there may only be a small number of our members in a school.

Mike Corbett, NASUWT Scotland president.
