Former Open champion Paul Lawrie visited Gylemuir Primary in Edinburgh recently to help drive forward the national clubgolf programme, which will be rolled out to a further 319 schools in the months ahead.

Clubgolf, a partnership of the Scottish Golf Union, the Scottish Ladies’ Golf Association, the Professional Golfers’ Association and SportScotland, is seeking to put a golf club in the hand of every 9-year-old in Scotland by 2009. The Scottish Executive are giving pound;500,000 a year for the project.
