SIGN language helps hearing babies develop their vocabulary, an American child development expert has claimed.

Joseph Garcia’s “Sign with your baby” pack, which goes on sale in Britain next year, is already ppular with parents in the States. Mr Garcia claims hearing babies taught to sign grow up happier as they avoid much of the frustration experienced by toddlers when trying to communicate with grown-ups.
