Internet giant Google made a move into classrooms this week, with the launch of a free resources service for British teachers.

Google UK Schools provides ideas, lesson plans and activity sheets, incorporating its tools, Google Maps, Google Images and Google Earth.

Dan Woodhouse, an advanced skills history teacher at Wyke Manor School in Bradford, welcomed the “innovative” service.

“There are a growing number of teachers using Google tools in classrooms, and this shows us how to make better use of them,” he said. “It adds variety to teachers’ toolkits.”
