EXCITING times at the Technology Colleges Trust - feted by ministers, praised by academics and with more members than ever before (Estelle Morris created another 55 specialist schools just before the hols).

Now it’s planning its first conference of the 21st century, to celebrate these advances under the banner “Sharing Excellence and Innovation”.

Sadly the innovation will not extend to the round table sessions on the first afternoon, where delegates can give mini-presentations on just how ground-breaking their schools are. A letter tells them: “It is not possible to use OHPs (overhead projectors), projectors or screens as power is not available.”

Technology - who needs it?
