Have I got this right? For 100 years politicians and educationists have gradually developed a national pay scale for teachers, first put in place in 1919, which removed the worst anomalies of teachers’ pay; teacher training that meant teachers were able to broaden their professional skills; and a curriculum suited to the 21st century. Now we have allowed Michael Gove to destroy, in two years, all the received wisdom that has gone before.
