I am writing with reference to Donna Hicks’ letter (“You won’t get outstanding results from just anyone”, 10 August). As someone who has made the transition from FE to secondary teaching, I can honestly say I would not have survived secondary education without achieving QTS. Michael Gove is wrong to allow anyone to teach in secondary education without QTS, irrespective of academic attainment. The training is essential.
