In her column of March 25, Joan Sallis told a governor after a bad inspection to look out for things such as behavioural management techniques and an explanation of the aims of the lesson.
As head of a school that has come out of special measures with a good inspection report, I feel this advice is dangerous and could lead to friction between governors and staff. Governors do not have knowledge to comment on teacher performance and would be better off observing pupils’
responses. I am sure there is good training available locally for governors who feel unsure about this important task.
