The main employers in the UK chemical industry are expecting to reduce their intake of graduates by 9 per cent this year compared with last. But the predicted drop follows a rise of one third in recruitment between 1994 and 1995.

Nearly half of the employers who replied to the survey thought demand for graduates would rise over the next three years. But they all stressed that the demand would be for quality rather than quantity.
