Grammar appeal

Labour-controlled Milton Keynes council is to appeal against a High Court decision forcing it to build a Pounds 14 million grammar school - the country's first new grammar in 30 years. The High Court this week allowed Buckinghamshire County Council's Conservative leaders to forge ahead with the plans although they are about to lose control of the city. Milton Keynes becomes a unitary authority in April and has long opposed the planned 1,000-place school.
