Grammar school conflict is a tale of class and classrooms

Adrian Elliott writes that "selective areas such as Kent and Lincolnshire have large numbers of poorly attaining schools" ("Myth: 'A return to grammar schools would improve standards and social mobility'", November 27). CfBT Education Trust provides the school improvement service in Lincolnshire and GCSE results for both grammar schools and secondary modernscomprehensives are, in fact, extremely impressive. In recent years they have actually been consistently ahead of their statistical neighbours.
