The Budget deal article (“Plaid does Budget deal”, TES Cymru, December 15)

stated that the new-look Budget means that, for the first time in Wales, heads will receive designated special grants for their schools. That is not correct.

It will in fact be the third time that payments have been made this way.

Similar grants were made available by this Assembly government in the years2000-01 and 2001-02.

This government has put more funding into education than any other previous government and we maintain our commitment to seeing the children of Wales educated in high-quality schools, benefiting from a high-quality curriculum and taught byhigh-quality teachers.
