Unemployed teachers delivered their demands to George Papandreou, education minister, at a mass meeting in Athens last week. Arecent survey shows 100, 000 teachers are out of work. Teachers want a greater commitment to state schools, smaller classes and two years’ compulsory pre-school education for all children.
