The first lecture in the Earthwatch 2005 series takes place at the Royal Geographical Society, London SW7 on April 27, 6.30 for 7pm. Dr William Megill, leading scientist on the Earthwatch project Grey Whale Migrations in Canada and Mexico, will explain why grey whale eating, mating and migrating has been baffling conservationists. Dr Astrid van Ginnekin will describe how orca (killer whales) are being protected through Earthwatch’s intensive monitoring. Admission by free ticket only. Volunteers aged over 16 are welcome for these and other research projects which last 14 days and require no experience. Some grant-assisted places are available.
