Guitar gently weeps for lost pension

The English teacher from Northgate high school, Ipswich, is one of many who fear that an extra five years in the job will burn them out.

The Government is claiming that the final salary teachers’ pension scheme will still represent a good deal when the changes come in.

But The TES has been deluged with calls from angry teachers who claim that the goalposts have been moved.

Unions have vowed to fight the plans with industrial action, warning that they can only worsen the teacher shortage.
