JAPAN: Parents of a four-year-old boy with haemophilia are suing their son’s nursery for telling other parents about the boy’s condition. Since an Aids-related tainted-blood scandal in Japan in the 1980s, haemophiliacs endure the same prejudices suffered by HIV carriers.
The couple claimthat their son’s reputation and privacy were violated by staff at his nursery in Takamatsu, Kanagawa, near Tokyo. The school thought it right to alert pupils to the dangers of the boy hurting himself. But parents warned their children to keep away from him.
