Willie Hart, Glasgow secretary of the Educational Institute of Scotland, seems to have given the impression that he is not too keen on holding the special general meeting of the union demanded by rank and file members.
The suspicious tendency wants to make sure the leadership doesn’t try any fancy footwork in the current negotiations with the management - like, for example, reaching agreement.
Hart suggested at the recent EIS executive council that such a gathering might be not so much an SGM as a “people’s rally”.
“I don’t know what he had for his dinner,” interjected fellow executive member Alana Ross, “but I’ve never heard such Blairite nonsense.” We hope harmony has been restored: she is better known as Mrs Willie Hart.
