Youth information organisation Young Scot has launched a website with details of events aimed at youngsters across the country. What’s on Where - or Young Scot WOW - is being billed as a “youth opportunities database” and is aimed mainly at 12- to 26-year-olds.

The site is divided into different categories and encourages young people to “get active” or “get involved, find out about entertainment, volunteer, learn something, or become more creative and cultured”.

Events featured include the Orkney Jazz Festival in April, digital photography for 10- to 15-year-olds at the Link Centre in Cumbernauld, a hip hop class in Erskine, and an under-18s midnight football session in Stranraer.

Launching the database last week, the Children’s Minister, Adam Ingram, said: “This has created a one-stop shop where youngsters can find out about things to do in their local area and elsewhere in the country. It will increase participation and make it easier for them to access the information they need.”
