Head down to East Sussex to celebrate the condensed literary form at this weekend’s Charleston short story festival, Small Wonder. It opens just after school today at 4pm, with Marina Warner’s keynote lecture at 6pm. If that’s cutting it fine, bring your short story (five minutes long or less) and hope for a slot in Saturday night’s slam. Readings and masterclasses from William Trevor, Yann Martel, Anne Donovan, Alexei Sayle, Hanif Kureishi and others. Check availability on 01273 709709.
