Heads' course is left in disarray

HOW many people are aware of the chaos surrounding the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers?

Not only has the Department for Education and Employment informed students that they must complete their work by April, 2001 so as to leave a clean sheet for the introduction of the new, shorter one-year course, but theOpen Universty has announced it is to withdraw from NPQH training from September, effectively abandoning all their students partway through their training.

The OU decision is a disaster for students and a shameful denial of its reason for existence.
