Heads kept in the dark on choice

IT SEEMS that the Department for Education and Employment is not content with making primary teachers conform to regimented teaching strategies but have decided that headteachers must also conform to their view of the information technology world.

Heads in England are to receive laptops from a generous Government but wil receive the computer that the Government sees fit for them to use, rather than the computer they need.

BECTA, the DFEE's agency, does concede that heads can choose the machine they want but has not seen fit to tell heads this.
