Heads in red are dressed to fine

I MUST confess that I have received a few fixed-penalty notices - mainly for parking offences. The thing they all had in common was that they were issued by people in uniform, some of them quite striking in their design. As heads are now to be able to issue notices of fines to parents of recalcitrant attenders, perhaps we could be given a uniform to wear when we are performing this function.

A group of design and technology pupils have come up with a design. They propose a neatly-cut dark jacket and trousers and a peaked cap. They also suggested a coloured stripe down the seams of the trousers, coloured epaulets and a coloured band around the hat. The colour? A very, very washed-out red.
