Hearing an historic event

On March 5, 1946, Winston Churchill made his historic Iron Curtain speech. Now you can listen to and read along with this oration. The Churchill Archives has provided images of his speech notes and these can be viewed along with supporting notes. An interactive timeline also offers pictures, memoirs and notes under the headings: Stalin and the Soviet Union; Churchill as Orator; Europe in Ruins; The Special Relationship; The Atom Bomb, and Churchill and Europe. Subjects ranging from Eleanor Roosevelt's support of black Americans to the post-war division of Germany are also covered.
